Sorry KEN but I don’t buy that. What has staying in the Top 4 for so long gotten us? Just a feel good factor because we used to finish ahead of our irrelevant noisy neighbors?

The 3 FA cups are nothing serious nowadays. Even Portsmouth won it before getting relegated. Wigan won the Carling cup etc.

Some of us have higher hopes than just making Top 4 and winning an FA cup here and there. Looks at the likes of City, United, Chelsea, Liverpool in the last decade or so. They have won CL’s or EPL titles.

We should expect higher expectations and ambition for our club. Not this weak nonchalant mentality that has been forces into us by our incompetent board. Where just making up numbers in serious competitions has become the norm.

“Oh, at least we make Top 4. We are a self sustaining club, so we should be proud.

“At least we won 3 FA CUPS.”

But but we have and continue to abide by the FFP rules. We should pat ourselves on the back”

We are not some mid table club that should just be grateful to be in the EPL or CL. We make enough money to expect bigger things. If we had an ambitious owner / board that supported the club wholeheartedly theb we would not conplain. Even if we don’t win, we should at least have that satisfied and hopeful outlook. “We might not have won this title or CL but we gave it our all, we are in a good place”. That is how I want to feel about my Arsenal. Not this rubbish season after seasob where we are left thinking “If we had just spent a little bit more...”

A heartening   summing up of the truth and  like me  and most others it seems, you  think Ken far too easily satisfied with  less than we could and should achieve. In life you have coasters  and you have driven fiercely ambitious people too. So it is  with football , footballers   and fans. I would add that top level football is a business these days    and  we fans pay through the nose for the privilege of supporting our  team . We  deserve, in pure moral fairnes,s to have all the players one hundred percent  working flat out. They owe us that. ALL of them! Huge  or smaller salaries quite irrespective. It comes down to  playing fair with  those who love the club more than anyone else. Us fans!

Are we too negative? In a nutshell, no! We were blessed in the early Wenger years with unbelievable success, we were a real force in football and were a whisker away from European glory but it was snatched from us from Barca. We've never recovered from that defeat and have severely underachieved ever since, with our owners(and now single owner), Gazidis and Wenger have taken the heart out of our club and left us amongst teams like Wolves, Leicester, Everton and West Ham. Our bitter arch rivals Spurs have overtaken us and are currently having a period of success, which they have earned through shrewd ownership and management. Naturally, this pisses us off massively but it's not their fault, it's ours. Not only this, we now have West bloody Ham signing quality players on high wages which is humiliating as well and this makes us look even worse. So, here we are again....staring at another summer transfer window with us being linked to millions of players worth hundreds of millions of pounds with an owner that could, if he actually cared, invest some of his own cash into the squad but we all know where it will end. But..... despite of all this shit, we still have belief that this season could, with some quality players added, finally elevate the team back into the top four and Champions League football and maybe go one step further in the Europa League and win our first European trophy for decades. When you look at all the negativity surrounding our great club and then listen to fans who always believe things can improve, this shows that our fan base isn't negative at all.....quite the opposite actually.

If you're talking about negative fans, look at the army of Man Utd supporters who see things that greatly concern them, even with the hundreds and hundreds of millions of pounds invested in pointless overpriced players on huge wages who care little about their once mighty club.

Left us amongst teams like wolves etc?....when did any of the teams you mention (apart from the one season with Leicester who finished above EVERYONE) finish above us?

The answer is, under AW's reign, not once.

Also, during the time we won those miserly, not worth competing in, cups, how many times did the above teams win a cup final under AW's reign? Not once.

Pray tell me what have our noisy neighbours won in the last 10 years? Nothing, not a damn thing and yet you say they have overtaken us? If you mean in qualifying for the CL, then I can accept that, but I was told by Goonsterz and backed by Jon Fox that doing that doesn't qualify as a success...so how have they overtaken us? One point was the difference at the end of the season and yet you praise them for shrewd ownership and management?

Who cares what WHU are paying their players, how on earth does that have anything to do with our club?  Just ask hammer fans what they think of their owners and the decisions they made.

The reason the media love to concentrate on The Arsenal, is because they know exactly what some of our fans are like and they make the most of it. Talksport are the typical example, with one so called presenter actually having a segment just to take the p**s out of us. They crucified the club for not winning anything for years and then when we did win the fa cup, they ridiculed it... just as the achievement has been ridiculed by so many of our own so called fans.

pool, spuds, wolves have not won the premier league once since it's formation, yet their fans backed them through thick and thin...while we presume we have the automatic right to be challenging for the title year after year. Since 1893, when we joined the Football league, we have been champions 13 times and fa cup winners 13 times. Three times champions and seven times fa cup winners under AW and yet you say he tore the heart out of the club? I would suggest to you that he put the heart BACK INTO the club... that is why our fans are so negative, it's because they don't know OR ignore the facts that are there, instead blame our most successful manager ever, making complete nonsense of the facts regarding the history and achievements of The Arsenal.

Over 126 years, taking out AW's reign and  stats, we won the title ten times and the fa cup, on average, once every ten years, give or take.

So, are some of our fans negative? Too right they are and also completely unrealistic in their demands, leaving themselves (and the club) open to ridicule by demanding the kind of success that the club has NEVER HAD, but seem to think is their right to have.

As for supporting the players who wear the shirt, it seems that this one simple requirement has become another myth amongst some of our so called fans.

Since the Invincibles, we have a certain type of fan who expects everything on a plate and gives nothing back in support except for the never ending "we deserve more" cry of self pity, or the "I told you so" shout of  self importance, or the  "wenger and gazidis tore the heart out of the club" mumbo jumbo, beating of the breasts, hysterical over the top total and utter BS remarks.

At least, there is a ray of sunshine in your view of the coming season, when you say we could elevate ourselves back into the CL...something that, until we lost it after twenty years, the negative fans amongst us, used to belittle as a mere "feel good factor", not realizing the importance of the achievement...something that lesser mortals such as pep, klopp, poch, Aw and UE actually thought was worth more than winning silverware.

Taking out AW's record regarding the fa cup SHOULD have read six times in 104 years, makes it evenmore astounding doesn't it?

No they are not. We have been title contenders once in 15 years. Is that why we moved into a 60,000 stadium?  Our ambition since we moved into the Emirates has been to finish 4th nothing more. When we did qualify for the CL we were battered by the first decent team we played. The last 8 years we qualified for the CL we got knocked out in the last 16. Why are so many Arsenal fans happy with this lack of ambition?

MUNICH71, ot's not a lack of ambition though is it?

It's a sense of reality that we will never be able to compete financially with  the likes of barca, madris (2) bayern, city, pool, psg, united to name some of the clubs that have owners who want to win trophies.

Of course, anyone who supports The Arsenal wants them to win, to think otherwise would be ridiculous. But the club have always been run on a "self sustaining" type of model...at least since I started following them over 60 years ago.

As things stand, world class players are simply out of our reach financially and even when we go in for a top class player, if any of the above mentioned clubs want the player as well, money talks.

What we should recognize, as a fan base, is that for 20 years, we actually qualified and competed in the CL...not moan about the fact that we didn't win it. No other english club has been able to do that and yet, this achievement is seen as a failure!! It is only now, after being out for three years, that the importance of being in the CL is beginning to sink in.

You ask why some Arsenal fans are happy with no ambition, ask  yourself this instead...why do some Arsenal fans realize that, unless kronkie decides to put money in to compete with the barca's of this world, releases the purse strings regarding tranfer signings and takes an actual interest in the club, things will not change.

That's The Arsenal I currently support and all the bitching and moaning in the world isn't going to change anything...that's why I get behind the club and it's players...it doesn't mean I lack ambition though, it's being, what's called realistic.
